HUNDREDS of cyclists are set to don the lycra and descend upon Worcester for a national racing event this weekend.
The Tour of Worcestershire, the Official Sportive of the Tour of Britain, will kick off on Sunday (October 9), starting and finishing close to the city’s racecourse and featuring three circular routes of 40, 75 and 100 miles.
Building on the success of 2015 when more than 800 riders took part, all three routes have been improved to showcase some of the most attractive and hardest roads in Worcestershire.
Once again combining the roads of the River Severn valley with iconic climbs in the Malvern Hills, the routes will begin at Hylton Road from 8am, and will finish on Worcester Racecourse.
All riders will receive a finisher’s medal and a sponsor goodie bag upon completion along with a hot meal.
Tour of Britain race director, Mick Bennett said: “2016 has been another fantastic year for cycling in this country capped by the huge crowds who turned out for the Tour of Britain. What better way to celebrate than to join hundreds of other like minded cyclists and to take part in the Tour Ride sportive in Worcestershire.”
To celebrate the event, every rider who enters will be placed into a Yellow Ticket prize draw to win some fantastic prizes, including a Tour of Britain Yellow Jersey presented by Eisberg, signed by 2016 overall winner Steve Cummings, which will be presented to the competition winner on the day.
Entry is available in advance for £35 via tourride.co.uk with limited entries available in person on the afternoon of Saturday, October 8 and the morning of Sunday, October 9.
