COUNCIL chiefs at Worcester City Council paid tribute to former University of Worcester student Thomas Jones with a minute’s silence in his memory.
Councillors fell silent during the council meeting on Tuesday (October 30) to show their respects for the 18-year-old who went missing in the city on September 19.
The teenager had only recently begun his studies in the city and despite a huge public appeal for information which included Find Jonah Facebook page, his body was found in the River Severn on September 28.
Council leader Coun Marc Bayliss said: “As this is the first meeting since the tragic news I am sure the whole council would join me in offering our condolences to his family.
“We were all shocked by his passing and I think it only right we mark it with a minute’s silence.”
The inquest into the teenager’s death will take place on January 22.
