EXCITEMENT was in the air at Latimer Court care home in Worcester where residents and staff have been busy making Coronation-themed decorations and baking up a storm of red, white and blue cakes and pastries.

Staff and residents at the home put their heads together and came up with a plan for their celebrations fit for a King.

Over the bank holiday weekend the home held a celebration party with a lovely afternoon tea, along with sparkling refreshments. Residents families joined in the fun during the day too. The whole home came together to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering.

Donna Tustin, General Manager at Latimer Court said: “We’ve all had such a brilliant time celebrating the Coronation, such a momentous occasion. Our staff and residents love the Royals and so they were all so excited to take part.

“A big thank you to Dan our activities coordinator and team who have been very busy all of last week decorating the whole home for the Coronation and for an amazing party in the garden to celebrate in style for the kings Coronation.

“It was really great seeing residents and their families having a lovely time. Thank you to all the team, to ‘Mini Concerts’ for their amazing entertainment throughout the day, everyone loved it and we can’t wait to have you back soon.

“Also another thank you our beautiful Worcester Carnival Queen, Melanie Eastwood for helping us plant a plum tree to mark the special occasion.

Some of our residents reminisced about the Queen’s Coronation, they remembered the amazing street parties they had then and said this was just as much fun. We all wanted to pay our respects to the King and create new memories, it is such an important occasion to mark.”

Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
