A DEVOTED charity volunteer has been honoured in celebration of her continuous support and fund-raising.
Worcestershire Parent and Carers Community (WPCC) successfully nominated one of their volunteers for the national Room to Reward scheme.
Hazel Hyman has been a dedicated supporter and volunteer of WPCC for a number of years, not only helping with events and coffee mornings but heading up the Crafty Group and raising vital funds through her craft work.
Joint co-ordinators Sue Evans and Audrey de Garis put Hazel forward for the award as a way to say thank you for all the work she puts into helping the charity.
Room to Rewards is a national run scheme which offers hotel breaks for ‘hidden heroes’ as a way for organisations, like WPCC, to be able to say thank you to their volunteers. This is the second time the charity have been successful in nominating a volunteer for the reward.
“I was so surprised when Sue and Aud told me they had nominated me and thrilled when I found out I’d won the getaway. I am really looking forward to the break and it’s nice to be given recognition for the work I do with WPCC,” Hazel said.
Robyn Rooney, volunteer co-ordinator for WPCC, said: “We love to be able to say thank you to our volunteers and Room to Reward is a great way to be able to do this.
“Hazel and all our volunteers are invaluable for us, we wouldn’t be able to operate without them, so to be able to show them how much we appreciate them through things like this is great.
“We have a small team of dedicated volunteers and are looking to grow this into an even bigger team to be able to make sure we can widen our support and events even further. We will also be looking at other ways we can reward our volunteers in the future.”
