City residents warned to watch out for the ‘Nottingham Knockers’

Worcester Editorial 18th Jun, 2018   0

CITY residents have been warned to be on their guard after reports the notorious cold caller group, dubbed the ‘Nottingham Knockers’, were seen in St Johns.

The cold callers were seen going door-to-door last Wednesday (June 13) in the north of St Johns in the Monarch Drive area

The group are known for using persistent and pressurising sales tactics.

One of the men was dealt with and cautioned at the police station as he did not have a valid licence to sell items in this way

Police are urging residents not to part with any money for products they don’t need, or products of poor quality, if one of the sellers knocks on their door.

Residents are also being advised to use precautionary measures such as a door chain and to ignore callers if they are unsure who it may be.

To sell on the doorstep a valid pedlars certificate is required, not just ID with the sellers photo on.

Anyone who receives a knock at the door from the ‘Nottingham Knockers’ is urged not to answer it and instead call West Mercia Police on 101.
