A Christmas Message from the Mayor of Worcester

Worcester Editorial 25th Dec, 2015 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

WHILST the Christmas trees, decorations and fairy lights are lovely to see and brighten up our homes, shops and the High Street, there is more to Christmas than this – much more.

It’s not the presents, the cards, the food or the parties – it’s the fact that this special time brings out the very best in people.

It brings families together, brings smiles to faces and helps us to appreciate those things that are most important – namely each other!

Compassion and charity flow more easily at this time of year. Christmas softens attitudes and brings a warmth of feeling, making us more likely to be aware of the needs of others.

The carol services in the Cathedral and in our schools have all been heart warming and delightful events, with real meaning.

It is great to see just how much the children enjoy these occasions – and their enthusiasm to participate is in abundance.

Christmas is special, very special; and long may it continue to be so.

A happy Christmas to you all – and may the New Year bring you good fortune, good health and great happiness.

Coun Roger Knight,

Mayor of Worcester
