CHILDREN at Grimley and Holt CE Primary School learned the importance of internet safety through a fun-filled day of fancy dress.

As part of Safer Internet Day 2016 on Tuesday, February 9, the children were asked to fill in a heart with their own message to promote kindness and respect online.

Dressed up as online characters to emphasise how much fun being online can be, providing they remember how to stay safe, the children took part in presentations, a rap and a short play.

The day started with a presentation led by the School Digital Leaders, a group of children from across the school who meet termly with the school’s e-safety governor and e-safety coordinator to help ensure our children are keeping e-safe.

E-Safety coordinator Sally Youngs said: “I’m really proud of how our Digital Leaders rose to this challenge and also how knowledgeable the different classes are on how to keep safe online.”

As part of the national initiative, the children and parents completed a heart with their rules for how to make a kinder and safer internet which were then posted on to the school social media site to spread the positive messages of online safety.
