Children of foster carers to be thanked at special party

Worcester Editorial 13th Oct, 2016 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

CHILDREN of foster carers across the county will be thanked at a party being held at St Helen’s Church.

The Fish Street venue will be holding the celebration on Saturday (October 15) from 3pm to 5pm in collaboration with Home for Good Worcester, All Saints Worcester and Worcestershire County Council.

The event is being held as part of Sons and Daughters Month: Celebrating the Foster Family, an annual campaign from The Fostering Network which runs each October to celebrate the vital contribution which the children of foster carers make to successful foster care.

All birth children of foster carers are welcome and there will be face painting, henna, refreshments, toys and games, a Cert U film, glitter tattoos, craft and computer games for families to enjoy, as well as the presentation of thank you certificates and party bags.

Joy Pollock, member of All Saints’ Church and a Worcester foster carer has helped organise the event.

She said: “It was my decision to become a foster carer, but without the support of my children it wouldn’t have been possible.

“They have opened their hearts and their home to children and have shared their mummy and daddy and their toys!

“It has brought out the very best in them and they have provided no end of support to me.

“This will be a fantastic opportunity to say thank you to them and all those like them across Worcestershire,” she added.

The Fostering Network recognises the vital role sons and daughters of foster carers can play in the success of fostering placements and helps support and celebrate the sons and daughters of foster carers.

Everyone is welcome to the event, although the activities are primarily aimed at those under 10.
