Rob George 11th Sep, 2022   0

WORCESTER will proclaim the accession of King Charles III to the throne with two ceremonies in the city.

Following the Proclamation of the Accession of the new monarch at St James’s Palace yesterday (Saturday), the Guildhall will host local proclamation ceremonies today (Sunday).

The Worcestershire County Council Proclamation will be at 1pm, followed by the Worcester City Council Proclamation at 2pm.

These ceremonies will be followed by an extraordinary meeting of Worcester City Council, at which City Councillors will propose resolutions expressing condolence.

The City Council’s Proclamation ceremony and the extraordinary meeting will be streamed live at www.worcester.gov.uk/worcestercitycouncil.

Both Proclamation ceremonies will also be shown on a giant video screen in Cathedral Square.

The Union Flag will be raised to full-mast when the Proclamation is made at St James’s Palace and then returned to half-mast an hour after Worcester City Council’s Proclamation ceremony is completed.
