A DESIRE for a united Worcester was discussed at meeting between the Mayor of Worcester and members of the city’s Muslim community
Coun Steve Mackay met prominent Muslim leaders, the Chief Inspector of West Mercia Police and the Managing Director of Worcester City Council. The Mayor decided to hold Monday’s meeting at Worcester’s Guildhall following the recent terror attacks in Manchester and London.
Two people from Worcestershire have also been arrested in connection to Facebook posts which are being treated as racial ‘hate crime.’
“We had an extremely positive meeting, with good suggestions for future engagement from all sides,” said the Mayor.
“We will work together for a united Worcester, sharing information and intelligence. The intolerable behaviour of a few will not be accepted by any of our communities.”
