Businesses swing into action for charity

A GROUP of financial planners and their clients teed off to raise more than £2,000 for St Richard’s Hospice.

Peter Wall and Karl Bruck, of local firm BW Financial Planning Ltd, held a golf day for their clients at Puckrup Hall Golf Club in Tewkesbury.

The event was the second of its kind organised by the two company directors and aimed to raise money for charity as well as offer business networking opportunities.

Peter said: “When we were organising this event for our clients we wanted to take the opportunity to support a local charity which might perhaps be overlooked in favour of the larger national charities. Both Karl and I know a couple of people who are involved with St Richard’s Hospice and through them have learnt about their worthwhile work.”

More than 70 clients and their guests attended the event; 18 teams played a four ball with a shotgun start, followed by a lunch and raffle at the Golf Club.

Hunger pangs were dispelled at hole 9 with cakes kindly donated by Janet Cope. Peter and Karl offered a £10,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one on the 18th Par 3 ‘Signature’ Hole but nobody could pull of the feat.

Tricia Cavell, fund-raising Director for St Richard’s Hospice, said: “Peter and Karl have raised a really fantastic amount of money and this will be used to help the hospice provide the best possible specialist end of life care for our community.

“Demand for our services continues to increase and we are currently expanding the community based support offered by our Hospice at Home team.”
