Broken heating system shuts city swimming pool

A CITY swimming pool has been forced to close its doors indefinitely after the water heating system broke.

Work is set to get underway later this week to fix the problem at Sansome Walk Swimming Pool which has been closed since New Year’s Eve.

It is understood the delay for repair work has been due to the new parts being ordered from France, but bosses at Leisure Connections, which operate the pool, say they hope to re-open to users by the end of the week.

In the meantime, operations manager David Pugh said they have offered swim-only members the chance to use the gym, which remains open between 7am and 10pm, while the issue is repaired.

“Following the unexpected closure of the pool at Worcester Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre, due to heating failure, we are offering swim only members the opportunity to use the gym as an alternative,” he said.

“We are also offering family swim passes for when the pool reopens for those members who do not wish to take up the offer of using the gym facilities.

“We are doing everything we can to ensure the issue is fixed as quickly as possible and we’d like to thank our members for their patience and support.”
