Bridge lane closure could lead to rush-hour delays

Worcester Editorial 13th Jan, 2014 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

TRAFFIC delays are likely in the city centre throughout today and during this evening’s rush hour when one lane of the Worcester Bridge is closed.

Workers from Western Power Distribution are having to carry out emergency repairs on a faulty high voltage cable meaning they will cone off one inbound lane into the city from about 2pm.

The work is set to continue throughout the evening peak but engineers will attempt to open the lane again before tomorrow morning’s rush hour depending on what they find when they get to the cable.

The footway on the north side of the bridge will also be closed to allow the work to take place.

The previous cable fault at the junction of The Butts and Angel Place has been repaired and Angel Place is now open again.
