A BODY has been found in the search for missing Worcester man Bill Barratt.

The body was discovered on Monday (July 18) in the River Wye in Rhayader and officers are not treating the death as suspicious.

Mr Barratt’s family has been informed of the discovery, but a formal identification is yet to take place.

Dyfed Powys Police located Mr Barrett’s car parked at Rhayader Rugby Club and contacted both Mid and West Wales Fire Service & Brecon Mountain Rescue Team to carry our a search of the area.

Fire service & mountain rescue personnel commenced a search of the River Wye and shortly afterwards a kayak search team from Brecon Mountain Rescue Team located a body in the river.

Mark Jones from Brecon Mountain Rescue Team said “This incident was an excellent example of inter agency cooperation and our thoughts are with Mr Barrett’s family & friends.”

This incident comes in one of the charity funded mountain rescue team’s busiest periods with the volunteers attending 12 call outs in the past 10 days.
