Big two hit town

Worcester Editorial 18th Aug, 2017   0

FAST food giant Kentucky Fried Chicken and family pub operator Greene King are heading to Worcester’s new Nunnery Park development site.

St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has recently sold the sites at its 155,000 sq ft Nunnery Park, allowing KFC to build a new drive-through restaurant and Greene King to construct a family pub and restaurant.

Creating 400 full-time jobs in Worcester, Nunnery Park is situated between junctions 6 and 7 of the M5 motorway.

Jonathan Green, St. Modwen’s director of asset management in the Midlands, said:

“These deals with KFC and Greene King are testament to the prominence and accessibility Nunnery Park offers, making it an ideal location for their businesses.

“The additional 55,000 sq ft we’re currently marketing is in response to the ongoing demand for trade counter, business and industrial space in the Worcester area.”

John Peach, senior acquisitions and relationship manager at KFC, said: “We’re pleased to have completed the deal with St. Modwen and have now begun construction on site.

“We look forward to further raising our presence in Worcester and our convenience for the growing local residential and business population in this strategic eastern area of the city.”

Another of St. Modwen’s sites at Shrub Hill Industrial Estate recently saw popular costume retailer, Fancy Dress Worldwide, expand by eight times its size from a 700 sq ft unit to a 14,669 sq ft site on a five-year lease.

The expansion has allowed the company to trade with more than 150,000 customers in more than 40 countries, whilst creating up to 50 new jobs.

Dominic Portman, owner of Fancy Dress Worldwide, said: “The business has grown rapidly in the past few years and we’ve been lucky to lease bigger units on the same industrial estate.”
