YOUNGSTERS from a Worcester school took to the stage to showcase their acting skills in the world’s largest youth drama festival.

Perry Wood Primary School sent 12 year five pupils to the Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury to perform in the Shakespeare Schools Festival.

The children took part in technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals and watched other schools perform.

Helen Manners, arts coordinator and class teacher, said: “Despite their initial nerves, the children thoroughly enjoyed their stage experience and their hard work in rehearsals produced fantastic final performances.

“My colleagues and I were proud to hear the evening compere compared the children to little bottles of pop, full of bubbles and just waiting to explode across the stage!

“As a member of the Griffin Schools Trust, promotion of the arts has a high profile in our school and we encourage all children to explore their creative talents in all aspects of the arts.

“We can’t wait to be involved again next year.”
