A MAN thought to be concealing a weapon in the city centre has been arrested by police.
The incident happened about 4.20pm yesterday (Tuesday) when armed officers responded to concerns from the public, and carried out a number of searches in the area.
A 42-year-old man was subsequently arrested in Rainbow Hill on suspicion of a firearms offence. He is currently in police custody.
Chief Insp Adam Thomas said: “We take the public’s safety very seriously and our focus throughout was to ensure the safety of the people of Worcester.
“We are pleased we were able to resolve the incident peacefully and no one was harmed.
“We understand seeing armed officers can be alarming to the community but we hope the public recognise protecting the public from harm remains at the heart of all we do.”
