TALENTED Worcester apprentices have been recognised and celebrated at a prestigious awards ceremony.

More than 330 apprentices and businesses attended the third annual Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards on Thursday (November 17) at the West Midland Safari Park, where 24 finalists were celebrated across twelve categories.

Some of the Worcester award-winners included Pippa Dressler-Pearson from Southco Ltd, who won the ‘Worcestershire Apprentice of the Year’ award, Matthews Construction, which won the ‘Small Apprenticeship Employer of the Year’ award and Worcester Bosch Group, which won the ‘Large Apprenticeship Employer of the Year’ award.

Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership and Worcestershire County Council launched the awards in 2014, to recognise the county’s best apprentices, apprentice employers, schools and training providers.

This year’s awards were hosted by business owner and winner of the first series of BBC’s The Apprentice, Tim Campbell MBE.

Mr Campbell said: “I would like to congratulate all the finalists and winners at this year’s Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards for their outstanding achievements.

“I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the awards and taking the opportunity to celebrate the positive impact of the younger generation. It was clear all of the winners and finalists have an extremely bright future ahead.”

Coun Ken Pollock, Worcestershire County Council cabinet member for economy, skills and infrastructure, said: “The awards ceremony highlighted just how successful our local apprenticeship schemes are and the incredibly positive impact they have in the local area.

“All of the finalists and winners should be proud of their achievements and I hope others will follow their example.”
