Appeal to find missing teen last seen in city

Worcester Editorial 20th Sep, 2018 Updated: 21st Sep, 2018   0

AN APPEAL has been launched to find a missing teenager who was last close to the city’s racecourse.

Thomas Jones, 18, was last scene in Worcester at 3.30am yesterday (Wednesday).

He is described as white, approximately five ft five ins, of slim build, with short mousy brown hair and grey/green eyes.

He is believed to have been wearing pale coloured jeans, a navy blue woollen zip-up Lacoste top and green shoes.

Following on from a thorough search of the surrounding area, specialist divers from South Wales Search and Rescue have now been deployed to search the river by Worcester Rowing Club on Grandstand Road.

Det Insp Tony Garner from West Mercia Police said: “We continue to search the area for missing Thomas Jones.

“We have had a number of people turning up to assist with the search for which we are very grateful and understand that people are keen to help, however the area close to the river is dark, wet and slippery and poses a risk.

“We had a minor incident yesterday in which our search team had to stop and support the ambulance service as someone had injured themselves while helping with the search.

“In order to prevent this from happening again, we ask that the public stay away at this stage so that our highly trained search divers can work without distraction and continue to conduct a full and thorough search of the river.

“We ask that anyone who may have seen him or has any information as to Thomas’ whereabouts call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 431s of 19 September.”
