All aboard for Worcester's Victorian Fayre

IT’S all aboard for Worcester’s Victorian Christmas Fayre.

Extra buses and extended services are running throughout the hugely popular four-day festive event, including an extra stop on the park and ride.

The fayre is taking place between Thursday November 28 and Sunday December 1 and once again is set to be filled with almost 200 stalls.

And with over 150,000 visitors expected across the event, taking the bus or park and ride service will be one of the most convenient ways for those traveling into the city.

Event sponsors First Bus will be running the park and ride service (number 901) from Sixways Stadium to Worcester Crowngate Bus Station on Friday (from 4.35pm), and all day Saturday and Sunday. This is a change from past years, when the service ran from County Hall.

The last park and ride service will depart Worcester at 10.15pm on Friday and Saturday evenings. On Sunday, the last service will be at 7.10pm.

There will also be enhanced evening bus services across the weekend.

On Friday and Saturday extra services to Dines Green (30), Blackpole (35), Great Malvern (44), and Catshill (144) will leave later than standard services.

Sam Lucker, from First Worcester’s marketing team, said: “We’re proud to be playing our part in making the Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre another huge success by, again this year, providing park and ride services. And this time we’re looking forward to welcoming customers at our new base at Sixways Stadium, where there is plenty of parking and easy access for our services to the city centre and Victorian Fayre.

“Last year we saw record numbers using this convenient and stress-free way to enjoy the fayre, and this year we hope to build on that even further.”

Visitors can enjoy all the sights and sounds of a Victorian Christmas with costumed characters, street magicians, stilt walkers wandering among the crowds, and a traditional fun fair.

Worcester mayor Coun Mel Allcott, added: “A long-term success, the Victorian Fayre brings visitors in from far and wide and is the perfect opportunity to showcase Worcester. I’m excited to see our Victorian-themed city with all the entertainment, the hospitality, the wares and my personal favourite, the carousel,”
