A major vision for young people

Worcester Editorial 29th Sep, 2017   0

A MAJOR blueprint to make Worcestershire a better place for youngsters to grow up in has been launched.

The Children and Young People’s Plan was unanimously approved by councillors at Worcestershire County Council last week and launched on Monday.

It brings together organisations and businesses from across the county and was developed for all children and young people in Worcestershire to find ways of improving the county for them.

It will also set expectations around the way all agencies work and focus on key priorities for children from now until 2021.

Ultimate outcomes of the plan are to ensure children are safe from harm, reach their full potential, make a positive contribution in their communities and live healthy, happy and fun filled lives.

A survey conducted by Worcestershire County Council earlier this year showed what was most important for children and young people, and the people that work with them, and the results have helped to shape the plan going forward.

Coun Andy Roberts, cabinet member for Children and Families said: “The Children and Young People’s Plan provides a framework for all agencies and organisations working with children, young people and families to help improve lives.

“We want children to have the best start in life including a supportive family and community network and good health, mentally and physically. The plan will help us achieve this.”

Coun Marcus Hart, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Education and Skills, added: “One of the key priorities in the plan is for children to reach their full potential and through appropriate education and learning we hope to achieve this.

“Working together with our partners, we will improve outcomes for all young people living in Worcestershire.”
