2025 Worcester City Runs introduces new partners and ambassador programme

Worcester Editorial 9th Mar, 2025   0

AN AMBASSADOR programme and new partners have been announced at the launch of the 2025 Worcester City Runs.

The event got the official go ahead when founder and former Olympic athlete Steve Cram met recently with partners, sponsors and organisers at the Guildhall.

They were also joined by five Worcestershire residents who have been nominated to be part of the first Worcester City Runs (WCR) Real Ambassadors programme.

New for 2025, the programme aims to encourage more people to get active through running.

Each of the five primary Worcester City Runs partners have nominated an ambassador with a distinct running story or motivation with the hope that the stories they share will inspire locals to get jogging and take part in the Worcester City Runs.

Each ambassador has been given a place on the Worcester City 10K and will receive a package of support in the run up to the event taking place on Sunday, September 14, devised and led by Ryan Sneddon, the owner of Worcester Physiotherapy Clinic.

This year’s WCR Real Ambassadors are Sue Smith, nominated by Sutcliffe and Co, Laura Pitt, nominated by Worcestershire Country Council, Mitchell Hawthorn, nominated by Worcester City Council, Sevvy Hasan, nominated by Acorns Children’s Hospice, and Tammy Gooding, nominated by Events of the North.

Steve Cram said: “Grass roots interest in running continues to surge and it’s an activity that can be really inclusive.

“The Worcester City Runs Real Ambassadors programme will harness that potential and we’re looking forward to supporting five very different runners as they prepare for September.”

The event, first launched in 2014, will take place on September 13-14 this year and as one of the most popular dates on the city’s sporting calendar, it is expected to attract thousands of runners and spectators to the streets of Worcester yet again.
