A TALENTED Worcester dance student has described representing England at the Dance World Cup as his ‘biggest achievement’ so far.
Gregory Sadler, who is just 13-years-old, has been chosen from hundreds of dancers to be one of three boys representing Team England at the World Cup in Jersey this June.
There he will perform two solos, one in ballet and the other in modern in his attempt to go for gold.
He’ll be competing against dancers from more than 40 countries around the world who are taking part in the competition.
He began dancing at the age of eight and has won in excess of 50 medals and trophies at dance festivals since he started dancing.
As well as his call-up to the Team England squad, the Worcester teenager will perform in the English Youth Ballet’s production of Sleeping Beauty at the New Theatre in Cardiff after he was awarded a scholarship.
The youngster has worked tirelessly to achieve his success under instruction from his teacher and Principal of Jago Dance Studio, Simon David Hundley.
Speaking to the Observer, Gregory said: “I love dancing, it is a true passion of mine and I don’t know what I’d do without it.
“When I found out I got into the Dance World Cup I was so pleased, I was gobsmacked.
“It is my biggest achievement so far and I am so proud.
“I am really really thankful to my teacher, Simon, as he has taught me everything I know about dance. He is a true inspiration and an amazing teacher.
“I am also really thankful to my family and to everyone else that have supported me. I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for them.”
Jago Dance Studio are holding a musical gala evening on Saturday, June 18 at Archdales Club, Worcester to celebrate the five year anniversary.
They will be joined by Brodie Donougher who has just finished playing Billy Elliot in London and will be giving a special performance straight from the West End stage.
