Urgent plea to give cats fur-ever home

A WORCESTER animal charity which has reached “bursting point” with cats has released an urgent appeal to help find them fur-ever homes.

The RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch is appealing to animal lovers who are considering adopting a rescued cat to look at one in the care of the local charity.

With more than 20 cats filling the private cattery and more cats receiving treatment at the vets, no more can be taken into care until new homes are found for some of the residents.

Unlike other charities, most of the cats coming into the care of the RSPCA branch have been abused, neglected, abandoned, injured or poorly.

A spokesperson from the RSPCA said: “We feel that rehoming one of our cats, who are truly in need, is very rewarding and worthwhile.

“We have some lovely cats at the moment, all ages, different colours, all so deserving of permanent loving homes. They are all neutered or spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, vet checked, wormed, de-flead and are rehomed with six week’s free pet insurance.

“One of the cats hoping to find his forever home soon is Jason.

“He is a two-year-old ginger and white boy, who’s shy at first until he gets to know you, then he is a loving friendly lad.

“Jason prefers to live as an only cat and have access to a garden, which he enjoys in good weather.”

The new cattery at The Holdings, Kempsey, near Worcester, site of the branch’s new Rescue & Rehoming Centre, will be opening in September or October. Until then, the branch needs to create some space at the private cattery, to be able to continue its important ongoing rehoming work.

Many of the cats can be seen at rspca worcester.org.uk. Call Pamela on 01905 841354 or Geraldine on 01886 822083 to arrange to meet them.
