Snap your way to success

Worcester Editorial 26th Feb, 2015 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

PHOTOGRAPHERS who can capture a moment in the wild are urged to enter their pictures into a popular competition.

The contest is run by conservation charity, Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, and the winning snaps will appear in their 2016 calendar.

The deadline to enter the photographs is Friday, April 10.

The competition is open to anyone but pictures must be taken in Worcestershire, capturing creatures of the wild or the places they call home.

Last year more than 250 photos were entered by 50 photographers and judged by Jason Curtis, of Far Forest.

Mr Curtis won the competition twice and had his pictures featured on two covers of the calender.

Wendy Carter, communications manager for the trust, said: “We’re always impressed not just with the quality of the photos but also with the range of wildlife that people are seeing.

“What we’re noticing more and more each year is just how much wildlife people are seeing in their own gardens.

“Last year’s winners included two photos taken in gardens as well as many photos taken in local neighbourhoods.

“This just goes to show that we can all do something in our gardens to help wildlife and that it’s all around us if we only take the time to look.”

The calendar is sold to raise funds for conservation work that is needed in the county and the 12 winning images will be considered for the trusts greetings and Christmas cards.
