THE SKY will be the limit for a city school thanks to a kind-hearted donation from a former student.

Pupils at RGS The Grange have been star gazing through the sites new Observatory, which was given to them by the Billingham family.

John Billingham was a student at the school in the 1940s and went on to enjoy a star-studded career with NASA where he led the team who pioneered the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI).

The Observatory will be host to the RGS Worcester Astronomy Society.

Sarah John, head of physics at the school, said: “The pupils were all amazed at how much you can see with the telescope.

“The Observatory is a great way to motivate and engage pupils of all ages, it is a joy to be able to study the stars like this.”
