Go Pokemon hunting on city history trail

WORCESTER has embraced everything Pokemon in a bid to attract visitors to the historic city.

After the rising popularity of the Pokemon Go app, Worcester City Council is giving visitors the opportunity to discover and capture Pokemon whilst on a special history trail.

Created by historic environment record officer, Sheena Payne-Lunn, the Worcester City Go History Trail promotes the city’s historic buildings and sites by inviting people to visit PokeStops – locations to gather virtual in-game items – and scan QR codes for more information.

Sheena said: “It’s been great to see so many people out and about, exploring our historic city through the Pokemon Go platform.

“We wanted to be able to provide added interest and explain a bit about the sites people are already visiting, as most of the PokeStops we’ve spotted are on historic sites.

“By displaying our Go History QR codes at selected sites around the city we hope people will be encouraged to find out more.”

PokeStops included in the Go History Trail are Costa Coffee at The Cross, Fort Royal Park, The Hive, Lea & Perrins Factory, The Hop Picker, Asda and The Guildhall.
