Youngsters earmarked as leaders

Worcester Editorial 8th Aug, 2019   0

YOUNG Warriors aces Ted Hill and Will Butler have been rewarded for their efforts on and off the field last season with promotion to the first team leadership group at Sixways.

Hill, who was capped by England as a replacement against Japan last November, and Butler have recently graduated from the Three Pears Warriors Academy and signed their first senior professional contracts.

Both have captaincy experience with England Under-20s and Butler also impressed as captain of the Cavaliers during last season’s Premiership Rugby Shield campaign.

Alan Solomons, Warriors’ director of rugby, has identified both Hill and Butler as having qualities which Warriors will utilise in the leadership group.

“In line with our vision to build the club through the medium of a vibrant and flourishing Academy, Will Butler and Ted Hill have been added to our leadership group,” Solomons said.

“Will has already shown terrific leadership qualities at age grade level and I believe that Ted has the ability to develop into an outstanding leader.”

Hill and Butler will join Warriors captain GJ van Velze, centre Ryan Mills, back-row forward Marco Mama, full-back Chris Pennell and South Africa international centre Francois Venter in the leadership group.
