EVESHAM Little Hampton triumphed in the Wychavon Parish Games angling event on the River Avon, sponsored by the Bait Box.

Despite a number of teams having to pull out, 11 Parishes took part in the event with every angler catching some fish on a successful day.

And Evesham Little Hampton’s team of Glenn Robinson, Owen Robinson and Rick Huxley emerged as overall winners (having been runners up in 2019 when the Parish Games were last held).

The runners-up were the anglers from Hill and Moor, with Evesham Bengeworth in third place.

Elsewhere, Wick were fourth, Bretforton fifth, Eckington sixth, with Ashton-under Hill seventh and Broadway eighth, ahead of Harvington and Honeybourne.

Bretforton’s Adrian Icke won Section A with Ashton-under-Hill’s Harry Stephenson the winner of Section B and Wick’s Steve Bowyer the winner of Section C.

And Hill and Moor’s Leigh Gardner was the overall individual winner with Evesham Little Hampton’s O. Robinson the overall runner-up and Evesham Bengeworth’s Clive Leeming in third.

The final one-day event is the senior table tennis, sponsored by Beswicks Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Service, and the junior table tennis, sponsored by Vic Haines Transport, which both take place at St Egwin’s C of E Middle School on Sunday, October 9.

In the meantime, the knockout events are up and running with the final of the ladies’ darts, sponsored by the Valkyrie Bar, to be contested between Bretforton and Broadway with a date yet to be decided.
