Wolves all set for cup clash

WORCESTER Wolves will be looking to clinch a place in the BBL Trophy semi-finals tonight (Friday) when they take on the Newcastle Eagles.

Wolves go into the cup game on their best ever winning run after winning 12 games on the bounce in all competitions and currently sit four points clear at the top of the BBL Championship.

Worcester Wolves director of basketball Paul James said it would be important for all his players to contribute if they are to get through into the last four of the competition.

“The BBL Trophy quarter-final is big for us because although we have been playing well in the BBL Championship, it doesn’t count for anything yet, so we would like to give ourselves a chance to make a final,” he said.

“Clearly we are playing a Newcastle team who have found some form of late and are playing well. Fab (Flournoy) does a good job of getting them ready for games of this magnitude.

“I think that we need to make sure that we continue to play the team ball we have been for the past few weeks and get positive contributions from everybody who plays.”

There will be little time to rest for Paul James’ side as they return to league action just 24 hours later on Saturday to face BBL strugglers Birmingham Knights at the North Solihull Sports Centre.

The Knights have found life tough going this season after losing all of their 22 league games played so far.
