Warriors set for derby double header in December

Worcester Editorial 19th Aug, 2015 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016

WORCESTER Warriors have been handed a tantalising December double-header against local rivals Gloucester in the European Challenge Cup.

The dates for the first four fixtures of the competition were drawn last week and have seen Warriors fans secure a couple of mouth-watering ties.

The first derby will take place on Thursday, December 10 at Sixways before the return fixture at Kingsholm on Thursday, December 17, with both clashes to be shown live on Sky Sports.

This comes after matches against Top 14 outfit La Rochelle and Italian side Zebre.

Warriors will kick off their European campaign against La Rochelle at Sixways on Saturday, November 14.

The following weekend will see a trip to Italy for Dean Ryan’s men to face Zebre on Saturday, November 21.

The two remaining fixtures will be announced after Worcester visit neighbours Gloucester.

Warriors chief executive Jim O’Toole said: “We can’t wait for what’s going to be an exciting European campaign.

“La Rochelle will be a great opening test while we hope our loyal away following will make the trip to Italy to cheer on the boys against Zebre.

“We’re delighted to have back-to-back games with local rivals Gloucester which will no doubt throw up two tight matches in the warm-up to Christmas.”
