Tough run will make us stronger - Taylor

WORCESTER Wolves point guard Zaire Taylor has said a tough run in of fixtures in the coming weeks will make his team stronger in the long-term.

Following tonight’s (Friday, 7.30pm) home clash against BBL Championship strugglers Surrey United, Wolves face away matches against two of their fellow title contenders – the Leicester Riders and the Newcastle Eagles.

Wolves travel to face their Midlands rivals tomorrow (Saturday) with their trip to Newcastle being next Friday (November 22).

And Taylor, who joined the club from Leicester in the summer, said the team will find out how tough they are in the matches to come.

“The mental toughness of this Worcester team has yet to be determined,” he said.

“We’ve been given a tough schedule this month. We would have played Leicester twice after this weekend, Sheffield and Newcastle all on the road.

“How we finish this month will tell us just how tough we are, but either way I believe you build strength through struggle and it will make us stronger.”

Wolves go into tonight’s game against Surrey United after ending a three-match losing run beating Glasgow Rocks on Sunday away from home.

Surrey sit rock bottom of the Championship table after losing all of their first seven games of the season and Wolves director of basketball Paul James said it was important his side build on their away win last weekend and not take anything for granted.

“Surrey have steadily improved with every game and they now have in Ceslovas Kucinskas a solid inside presence who they did not have when we played them at the start of the season,” he said.

“We need to take the momentum of the Glasgow game into this one and approach it with the right attitude.”
