Sixways charity event put on hold

Worcester Editorial 20th Mar, 2020   0

ORGANISERS of the Cure Parkinson’s Cup tournament, which was due to be played at Sixways on Sunday April 19, have postponed the fund-raiser because of concerns about the coronavirus.

The competition was due to involve teams from across the UK and Europe. Organisers hope to be able to reschedule the inaugural staging of the competition for a later date.

Charlie Appleyard, the tournament organiser, said: “It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to postpone the Cure Parkinson’s Cup on April 19 2020.

“We do this with the safety and well-being of all involved in view of the coronavirus outbreak.

“The organisers have worked tirelessly to put the tournament together and have everything in place to reschedule to a later date when we can.

“We would like to thank all sponsors, team co-ordinators, Worcester Warriors staff and owners, Mike Tindall and his rugby legends, players, all at the Cure Parkinson’s Trust, Goal Giving, Rich Hurst, the Fanzone exhibitors, the organisers of the PD 2020 conference, all media channels that helped us promote the events this far and the whole Parkinson’s community for your amazing support.

“In the meantime I wish you all the best until we reconvene to compete for one of the most prestigious trophies in world sport: the Cure Parkinson’s Cup.”
