RUGBY: Four Warriors make Bath move as playing side at Sixways wound up in court

Worcester Editorial 5th Oct, 2022   0

PREMIERSHIP strugglers Bath have signed four Worcester Warriors on loan – England centre Ollie Lawrence and flanker Ted Hill, plus forwards Fergus Lee-Warner and Valeriy Morozov.

While Warriors director of coaching Steve Diamond had revealed the news on Sunday all four ‘go with our best wishes and that hopefully they will come home’, today’s winding-up of the playing side of Warriors mean all four are now without contracts at Sixways.

They are the first players to leave since Worcester’s season was suspended and the club was placed in administration last week.

Flanker Hill has missed all of Warriors’ first four games so far this season with a hamstring injury, but Lawrence and Australian flanker Lee-Warner have started all three league games, while Russia international prop Morozov played in the first two.

Bath, who have signed the four Warriors players as short-term injury dispensation cover, are the only side below Worcester in the Premiership table, having lost all four games so far.

Premiership Rugby has confirmed Warriors’ matches against Gloucester Rugby last Saturday and this weekend’s clash against Harlequins have been officially cancelled – meaning if Warriors do survive and are readmitted to the league the games won’t be replayed. This follows the RFU’s decision to suspend Warriors teams from all competitions.

A panel will be convened in due course to decide the result – and points allocation – of these two matches
