WING Alex Hearle has become the latest Warriors player to commit his future to the club by signing a new two-year contract.
Hearle is a product of the Three Pears Warriors Academy and, having signed his first senior contract two years ago, has enjoyed a breakthrough season which has seen him score five tries in 18 appearances, the most recent as a replacement in the Premiership Rugby Cup final win over London Irish.
“I am very happy to be staying here for two more years. I really believe in what Steve Diamond has instilled in the time he has been here and it makes me very excited about the future potential that we have at the club which we showed in the Premiership Cup victory,” Hearle said.
“It’s been great to get the opportunity to play this season. I have loved every minute of it. I have learned a lot, had a lot of fun and I can’t wait to play some more rugby in front of Worcester supporters.
“Having grown up locally, and come to Sixways to watch games with my family as a kid, it’s fantastic to be a part of this team. To play with guys that you’ve known for eight or nine years makes it even more special.”
Hearle, 23, made his Warriors debut early in his time at the Three Pears Academy and has now made 32 senior appearances and scored seven tries including a hat-trick in the victory over Exeter Chiefs in March.
“Alex has a wonderful future ahead of him,” said Diamond, Warriors’ Lead Rugby Consultant.
“He’s very athletic, he’s a big lad and he can play at either centre or on the wing. He has an edge about him which I like.
“He’s another player that has come through the Academy at Sixways and it’s great to see him and other homegrown players committing to the club.”
