Humphreys signs on for two more years

WINGER Perry Humphreys has become the latest player to commit his future to Worcester Warriors by signing a new two-year contract.

Humphreys, 24, joined Warriors from Leicester Tigers academy in 2014 and made his senior debut against Rotherham Titans in the Greene King IPA Championship later that year.

He made his 50th appearance for Warriors in the Premiership Rugby Cup win over Leicester Tigers at Welford Road in November and has scored 12 tries in 56 first team appearances.

“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract and to get it sorted early in the season, which gives you that bit of extra security and certainty,” Humphreys said.

“It’s an exciting time to be involved with Warriors. We’ve got a lot of exciting talent coming through from the Academy and a nice blend of youth and experienced players.

“We’ve got real depth in the squad and there is strong competition for places in all areas of the team which means that you have to keep pushing yourself and improving.

“We’ve also got a home European Challenge Cup quarter-final against Harlequins to look forward to, we’re going well in the Premiership Rugby Cup and we are looking to push up the Premiership table in an exciting end to the season.”

Humphreys can also play at full-back and that versatility has made him an important member of Alan Solomons’ squad.

Solomons said: ““Pez is a very talented young player who has played some outstanding rugby this season.

“He is a good all-round footballer with pace to burn and we are all delighted that he is staying put.”

Humphreys is the 14th member of the current Warriors squad to sign a new contract in the past month and the second in a week after Zimbabwe international prop Farai Mudariki penned a one-year deal.
