Hot-shot striker can be City’s goal-den Brown

HOT-SHOT Demetri Brown has become the latest new face at Worcester City as manager Ash Vincent continues to re-shape the Blue and Whites squad.

Brown netted 40 goals in 48 appearances to help Tividale to the West Midlands League Premier Division title and win promotion to the Midland Football League and caught the eye of City chiefs during the campaign with his exploits.

In two spells with Tivvy, he smashed 70 goals in 116 appearances.

The striker has played in the Midland League Premier Division before with AFC Wulfrunians and Coventry Sphinx and has also had spells with Sutton Coldfield Town and Hednesford Town.

Vincent said Brown had been one his main summer targets ahead of the new 2019/20 campaign.

“Demetri is a very talented footballer who as a forward knows where the goal is as his record of 40-plus goals shows but more than that, he has ambition and drive that he marries with a tremendous work ethic,” said Vincent.

“I want players that will work hard for the club but also to improve as players and that’s why in forward areas, from outside the club, he was my main target.

“Myself and the staff are absolutely delighted to beat off competition from all levels for someone who we feel will be a huge success here.

“We very much look forward seeing him play and scoring goals in a Worcester City shirt.”

The Blue and Whites will also welcome back Adam Osbourne after he agreed terms with Vincent and the club last week.

Former Wolves youngster Osbourne made 13 appearances last term for City scoring a stunning goal away at Dunkirk before he then made the move to Sporting Khalsa. He made 11 appearances before linking up with Wolves Casuals towards the end of the season.

“He returns fresh and ready for a new season and hopes to kick on once again,” Vincent said.

The summer squad reshuffle has continued with Joel Caines also agreeing to the terms offered to him last week.

Caines made 32 appearances for City last season where he started at full-back before moving into a central midfield role.

Striker Kyonn Evans has made the move to Malvern Town while Joe Bates has swapped City for Town to join Pershore Town.

City have also revealed their pre-season fixtures as the players return to training on June 25 with Vincent wanting to ensure his players fitness levels are high ahead of the kick-off of the Midland League campaign on August 3. The FA Cup begins the following weekend.
