A SIXWAYS clash with Sale Sharks will launch Worcester Warriors’ campaign in the new-look Premiership Rugby Cup.
Warriors welcome the Sharks to Sixways on Friday, October 26 (kick-off 7.45pm) in the first game in the new competition which replaces the Anglo-Welsh Cup.
Alan Solomons’ men will also take on Leicester Tigers, Saracens and Wasps in the competition, with trips to Leicester and Saracens arranged for Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 11 respectively.
Involving the 12 Gallagher Premiership Rugby clubs and with total prize money of more than £500,000, the Premiership Rugby Cup will be played over four pool rounds, including a Derby Day weekend, semi-finals and final.
The Premiership Rugby Cup will comprise three pools of four teams each and will begin with the first three pool rounds starting on the last weekend of October and the last round in the New Year.
The New Year round will see Derby Day clashes for the 12 teams, against a side from another pool, before the Cup moves into the knockout phase with the three pool winners and the best runner-up moving into the semi-finals.
Warriors’ Derby Day clash will be with Wasps at Sixways on Friday, February 1 (kick-off 7.45pm).
The final to be staged at the home ground of the highest-seeded team from the competition.
