Heeley refusing to blame St George's Lane exit for poor home form

WORCESTER City manager Carl Heeley has said he refuses to pin the blame on his side’s poor home form on their relocation to Aggborough.

The Blue and Whites ended their 108 year stay at St George’s Lane in the summer and moved 14-miles up the A449 to their temporary home in Kidderminster.

Since the move City have won just once on ‘home’ soil in the Skrill Conference North all season, a 4-0 success over Workington on September 21, and lie in 19th place, only above the relegation zone on goal difference.

But Heeley, who has been with the club for two decades, does not want the ground-share and lower attendances to be used as an excuse for his side’s poor home form.

Speaking after his sides 2-0 home defeat to Oxford City, he said: “We’re still in and around the danger zone and we’ve got to start winning games at home particularly because we’re used to this place now and we can’t use it as an excuse.

“It’s our own place and we’re not fluent enough, we don’t pass the ball well enough here and I’m just at a loss as to how we can have such a contrasting performance from the Telford game.

“But we have got it and we dust ourselves down and we try and pick on the little things that got us the positive results and try and put them back into our game for the next one.”

City will be hoping for success on the road when they travel to Skrill Conference side Aldershot in the FA Trophy second round on Saturday (December 14) kick off 3pm.
