Heeley on the lookout for new faces

WORCESTER City manager Carl Heeley has admitted he would like more depth to his squad, as the fixtures start to pile up.

With the recent weather playing havoc with games up and down the country, the Blue and Whites’ threadbare squad is set to be pushed to the limit with 13 games left to play in the remaining eight weeks of their campaign.

Following the departure of Richard Taundry to Solihull Moors and the recall of Jamie Grimes to parent club Kidderminster, Heeley knows they are light on numbers.

Asked if he was confident the players were up to the intense end to the season, he said: “I’m not confident in the number of players we’ve got in the squad because there’s not enough.

“We do need to get a couple in and we are actively looking, but we’re not going to panic about it, we’ll take our time and make sure we get the right players.”

The City boss was also left frustrated at the host of recent postponements, interrupting the fine run his side had got themselves on.

“It’s about momentum and you do lose that momentum,” he added.

“It is frustrating but the one thing we can’t affect is the weather, and if the pitch is unplayable it’s unplayable, but it is frustrating.

“All we can do is turn up and keep applying ourselves right, and if we do that then I can’t ask for any more and we will get the results. We’ve proved we can get results over the past few weeks.”
