FOOTBALL: Freescoring City set sights on place in Vase third round

GOAL-GETTING Worcester City will hope the rain stays away as they bid to return to action in the FA Vase this weekend.

A place in the third round of the competition is on offer when the Blue and Whites visit Wolverhampton Casuals tomorrow (Saturday)

Chris Cornes’ men were denied the chance to add to the impressive goal tally for the season when the Hellenic League clash with Mangotsfield United was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch on Saturday (November 4).

This weekend’s trip to the Black Country kicks off a cup double, with City visiting an impressive Droitwich Spa side in the Worcestershire Senior Cup on Tuesday (November 14).

A trip to Royal Wootton Bassett Town is on the cards for Worcester Raiders tomorrow as they bid to bounce back from a 4-2 reverse at home to Roman Glass St George at the weekend.

Goals from Bailey Fuller and Shay Willock weren’t enough for Raiders to celebrate manager Karl Gormley’s 300th game in charge.

The result was just Raiders’ third league defeat of the campaign and leaves them fourth in the Hellenic Premier Division, 10 points behind leaders City who have two games in hand.

Bemerton Health Harlequins will be the visitors to the HD Anywhere Community Stadium on Saturday as Malvern Town look to bounce back from their first defeat in three.

A goal from Alex Bell deep in injury time couldn’t save Town from a 3-1 home reverse to Frome Town in last Saturday’s Southern League Division One South fixture.
