A TRIO of Worcestershire CCC coaches are gaining invaluable experience as part of their development through taking charge of Second XI fixtures this summer.

Academy director Elliot Wilson plus coaches Ryan D’Oliveira and Andy Sutton are taking turns at the ‘Lead Coach’ role throughout 2019.

They are working alongside the County’s head of player and coaches development in Kevin Sharp who has vast experience of second team cricket from being coach at Worcestershire (four years) and Yorkshire (three years).

Sharp said: “Development is a massive key for us here. We don’t want any coaches to stand still.

“We want them moving towards the next level and gaining experiences that are going to challenge them.

“Alex (Gidman) is first-team coach and there has been wonderful development in that area and Ryan (D’Oliveira) has been involved with the professionals for a year or two now in a support role capacity.

“Andy (Sutton) has worked a little with the professionals and on the youth side while Elliot has had a fair amount of involvement with second-team cricket.

“Between the three of them, they are officially taking control of the management-lead coach role for second eleven fixtures.

“I am there as a guide and support to help them manage the challenges that will come with second XI cricket.”
