Fan's view: Chapman offers hope for Warriors' future

CURRENTLY all the sounds coming from Sixways are about the future and not the now.

And one of the exciting prospects for Warriors’ future is nomadic teenager Tom Chapman, who arrived in the summer having suspended his studies at Bath University.

Previously of Saracens, Bath and Blackheath, the wing/scrum half got off to a flying start in this summer’s J.P Morgan Premiership 7’s event – scoring two tries in his first appearance in Worcester colours.

As with many academy players Chapman has been dual-registered and has gone out on loan to Championship side Nottingham.

Last weekend Chapman started against Bristol, who fielded Worcester old boys Ollie Hayes and Bruce Douglas, at the Memorial Stadium. In wet and windy conditions, Chapman had quite an isolated afternoon on the wing, but the few times they did get the ball to him he showed signs of his pace and skill.

Tom is still a teenager and looked every bit the professional player for 80 minutes in shocking conditions.

I would say he is a very hot prospect for the future and I look forward to seeing him in either a number nine or a number 11 shirt for Warriors soon.
