NUMBER eight Semisi Taulava will leave Worcester Warriors at the end of the season after agreeing to join relegation rivals Newcastle Falcons
The 31-year-old has made 29 appearances for Warriors since his arrival from Championship outfit Rotherham Titans in 2012 and he was one of the club’s stand-out performers last season
But after sustaining medial knee ligament damage in December, Taulava, whose contract ends in the summer, slipped down the pecking order while the signings of back row duo GJ Van Velze and Andries Pretorius raised doubts over his future
And the Tongan-born enforcer has now decided to leave Worcester for a new life in the north east having agreed a two-year deal with Falcons
Taulava said: “I’m really looking forward to my move to Newcastle Falcons and I’m excited at the prospect of playing under Dean Richards
“I like the philosophy of the Falcons and when I spoke to Dean I was impressed with the club’s plans for the future
“There is a good mixture of both youth and experience in the squad, and I hope that my experience can complement those talented youngsters coming through
“
