Cutting signs Warriors contract extension

Rob George 8th Feb, 2021

WARRIORS hooker Beck Cutting has committed his future to Warriors by signing a contract extension.

The 22-year-old, who is in the final year of a Sport and Social Sciences degree at Bath University, signed his first full contract with Warriors last summer having graduated from the Three Pears Academy.

Since then Cutting has made 14 first team appearances, most recently off the bench against Leicester Tigers on Saturday. He also scored his first try for the club against Wasps at the Ricoh Arena in August.

Having represented England in the World Rugby Under-20s Championship in France in 2018 and Warriors Director of Rugby Alan Solomons believes he has the potential to emulate Ted Hill, who also played in that tournament, by going on to win senior international honours.

“It is terrific to see Beck, another home-grown product, commit his future to Warriors,” Solomons said.

“Beck has been able to get some meaningful game time in the past few months and has showed that he has the ability to become an integral part of the team in the years ahead.

“He is a quality hooker who, I firmly believe, will one day to play for England. He’s a terrific team man and we all look forward to continuing working with him.”

Head Coach Jonathan Thomas is also impressed by Cutting’s progress this season and is excited by his potential.

“We’ve invested in bringing through home-grown players and developing English internationals,” Thomas said.

“Beck is someone who we believe has a bright future ahead of him and has real potential. We look forward to seeing him develop in a Warriors jersey.”

Cutting, in turn, is looking forward to continuing to work with the new coaching team at Sixways and playing in a squad that includes a dozen more Academy graduates.

“The ambitions of the club are very exciting, especially with the new coaching team and the vision they have,” Cutting said.

“I’m looking forward to playing more rugby with the boys I’ve grown up with and I’m very excited about the times ahead.”
