Birmingham City XI 2

Pre-season friendly

CITY’s pre-season campaign came to a close with an entertaining 2-2 draw against a Birmingham City XI at Aggborough.

Ryan Rowe gave the Blue and Whites a 24th minute lead after being put through one-on-one with the advancing Blues keeper Connal Trueman before calmly firing home.

Kyle McFarlane brought the scores level just before half time after Jamie Smith’s attempted header back to Nathan Vaughan fell short, nipping in to lift the ball over the advancing City keeper.

The second half opened up with several changes for both sides and the Blues took the lead with a penalty from Liam Truslove after Vaughan fouled inside the box.

City fought back to force several corners before drawing level with 12 minutes remaining.

Rowe was brought down in the box by Blues keeper Trueman, who then saved Sean Geddes’ spot kick, but Geddes quickly followed up with the rebound.

Worcester survived a late scare when Blues substitute Viv Soloman-Otabor had the goal at his mercy – shooting towards the empty net – but a tremendous diving goalline clearance from Kieran Morris denied the Blues striker.

City’s next game will be the opening fixture of the new season at Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday.

Worcester will kick-off their home campaign when they entertain Tamworth on Tuesday at Aggborough at 7.45pm.
