WORCESTER City turn their attention to the FA Trophy tomorrow (Saturday) when they face AFC Telford United in the first round at Aggborough.
Carl Heeley’s men beat Ramsbottom United 3-0 in the previous round to set up the encounter against their Skrill Conference North rivals.
City go into the game unbeaten in three, with two wins and a draw, but Telford are in fine form having won their last four games on the bounce, scoring 13 and conceding just one.
Manager Heeley said: “It’s going to be a tough game, they’re up there expected to be one of the promotion favourites so we’re under no illusions it’s a tough game.
“But it’s the FA Trophy, it’s not a league game, it’s a one off game so the way we are playing and how we are competing we’ll give anyone a game.
“It’s nice to have a little trophy run and the finances are obviously important but it would be nice to get a decent crowd in here, I’m sure Telford will bring a decent following so it’s one to look forward to.”
The cup tie will also see City new boy Steven Leslie face his former club but Heeley was keen to not single out the attacking player.
“It’s an opportunity for him to play against his former club and I’m sure he’ll be looking forward to it,” he said.
“But Steve, like the rest of the lads, know it’s a team unit and together we feel that if we perform then we’ve got an opportunity to progress.”
The Blue and Whites have received a further boost ahead of the game with the loan signing of Port Vale striker Dominic Dell.
