TOP-FIVE outfit Long Eaton United will be the visitors to the Victoria Ground as Worcester City look to end their two-match winless run and climb the Midland Premier Division table.
City’s 2-0 reverse at Heather St John’s on Saturday made it two defeats in a week for Ash Vincent’s men following the 4-0 loss at Sporting Khalsa in the previous outing.
The defeats brought to an end a four-match unbeaten run in league and cup which saw City concede just the one goal and the Blue and Whites will be looking to climb up from 12th in the table with a win. Vincent’s side fell to their latest defeat despite Heather having a player and coach sent off in an ill-tempered performance from the home side.
A quiet first quarter came to life when City’s Kurtis Mewies wrestled Kieron Clarke to the ground in the box in the 27th minute for a penalty and Heather’s leading scorer coolly planted the spot-kick down the middle of the goal past keeper Dan Jezeph.
Jezeph saved point blank from substitute Ross Dempster with 19 minutes to go to keep the Blue and Whites in contention, before Heather’s Umar Zaman chopped down Sam Hall on the halfway line and was dismissed for two yellow cards.
The visitors were denied in a penalty as the final 10 minutes began as Clarke slapped the ball away with his hand in the area in an incident missed by the officials and Heather saled victory on 87 minutes when Dempster beat Jezeph one on one.
* City will be on their travels in the Moldwel Products Ltd League Cup second round after being handed a return to Sporting Khalsa next month.
The Blue and Whites will face the Black Country side on Tuesday, November 12 at 7.45pm.
