City aiming to maintain their momentum

Worcester Editorial 5th Mar, 2016 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

WORCESTER City will welcome FC United of Manchester to Aggborough looking to continue their three-match unbeaten run.

The Blue & Whites were due to make the long trip to Lowestoft on Tuesday but the match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Crown Meadow.

Shaun Donnellan came within an inch of a last minute winner when his 25-yard free kick hit the bar, but City came away from Boston on Saturday with a well deserved point despite the red card shown to Walsall loanee Amadou Bakayoko.

The draw ensured City continued a positive run of form which has seen them pick up five points from the last nine available including games against promotion-chasing Nuneaton Town.

And with two home games in four days including the visit of Alfreton Town on Tuesday (March 8), City will be hoping to make up ground on the top ten in National League North.

FC United only ended their four-match losing run on Saturday with a 3-2 victory over North Ferriby United.

The game will be one of the last City play at Aggborough after the club confirmed it was ending its groundshare agreement at the end of the season and fans are being urged to show their support for the Blue & Whites by taking advantage of reduced ticket prices.

FC United of Manchester is a supporter-owned club that is fully owned by their 5,000-plus members and run as a community co-operative.

They moved into their new purpose-built stadium and community facility, Broadhurst Park, in May last year after ten years without a home of their own.

Half of the £6.2m cost of Broadhurst Park was financed by FC United supporters via a number of social financing schemes, including a ground-breaking community share scheme which raised more than £2m.

Entry prices for the match will be £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £1 for juniors and under 16s.
