CHARLES Cameron has been sacked as Worcester Warriors’ chief executive after just nine months in the role.

The former healthcare boss arrived at Sixways in May last year where he was handed the task of taking Warriors to ‘the next level’.

But with the club languishing at the foot of the Aviva Premiership table, the Sixways board have decided to part company with Cameron.

Non-executive director Anthony Glossop, who chairs the board, will take on a part-time executive role, while the club confirmed the search for a replacement will ‘commence shortly’.

Cameron said: “I am proud of what I achieved at Sixways and I am very disappointed to have lost the backing of the Board of the Trading Company just as I felt real progress was being made.

“I should like to thank the players, coaches, staff and fans for their support. I shall continue to support the Warriors and have every confidence that given time, Dean Ryan and his team will deliver a successful Premiership side.”

Glossop added: “I would personally like to thank Charles for his hard work during his period with us, which I appreciated.”
